NWDC takes shape as Tinubu appoints governing board

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Haruna Ginsau and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji as Chairman and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), respectively.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was announced that President Tinubu has forwarded the names of the appointees, along with those of other inaugural Governing Board members, to the Senate for confirmation.

This follows the signing of the North-West Development Commission Bill into law by President Tinubu on July 24, marking a significant step towards the formal establishment of the Commission.

The NWDC is tasked with driving development across the North-West region. The appointees are expected to bring their expertise and experience to help achieve this goal.

Ambassador Ginsau is from Jigawa State, while Professor Ma’aji hails from Kano State. Other nominated board members include Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe from Sokoto, Hon. Aminu Suleiman from Kebbi, Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura from Zamfara, Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman from Kaduna, Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil from Kano, Shamsu Sule from Katsina, and Nasidi Ali from Jigawa.

The NWDC aims to accelerate growth, economic empowerment, and social development in the North-West region, with President Tinubu pledging strong support for its mission.
