NSCDC apprehends 2 suspected human traffickers in Jigawa
Two suspected human traffickers have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in Jigawa State.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Musa Alhaji Mala (CC) made this revelation via a statement made available to newsmen.
He revealed that the suspects, Audu Sambo, 65 living at Unguwar Dorawa village, Gwiwa LGA, and Dahiru Usman, 37 living at Maje village in Roni LGA were apprehended on Wednesday.
Mala narrated that the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday after they took a female chila, Hajara Audu Sambo, 12 to participate in a domestic service in Katsina State and Abuja.
He also said Audu Sambo, one of the suspects, a father to the victim brought the matter to the awareness of the NSCDC Divisional office in Gwiwa.
Sambo added that he made attempt to reclaim his daughter using the agent (Dahiru Usman) but all has efforts had proved abortive since about five months now.
The State commandant also disclosed that after th Anti-human Trafficking Unit of the Command interrogated the agent (Dahiru Usman), he admitted to the allegation of carrying the small girl to Katsina two times.
The agent confessed that the small girl has spent about 2 years in Katsina with the approval of her father (Audu Sambo).
The agent further said that the father did receive N5,000 monthly from Usman in Katsina.
The father confessed but denied being carried along when the girl was moved to Abuja to do domestic service for another woman.
“I have taken four other girls aged 16, 14, 13, and 12 respectively to the same woman in Katsina, one Hajiya Maimuna and two to another lady, called Aunty Sadiya in Abuja.
“I got paid whenever I took girls to them and also from the parents when the girls return,” he confessed.
The NSCDC State Commandant sent message of advice to parents to stay away from sending out under-aged children to do domestic jobs.
He said the matter was under investigation which would be followed by prosecution.
