NPFL: Kwara United ease off relegation worries with 2-0 win over Kano Pillars

It was an impressive performance from Kwara United on Wednesday as they secured a 2-0 win over Kano Pillars in the Matchday 36 encounter of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

Goal in each half of the game ensured the Harmony boys edged the Sai Masi Gida boys.

A half volley by Ibrahim Dehinde in the 27th minute, as well as a well taken penalty kick by defender Ejeh Isaiah in the 58th minute won the maximum points for Kwara United, to finally ease relegation worries.

For Kwara United, the match came at a crucial time when the league is headed for completion while the call for stability on the log saw pressure reaching a boiling point.

Kwara United, with the win, are currently in the 11th position with 48 points, some points adrift the relegation zone.

The team wouldn’t also afford any further damage to their status on the log as they head into executing their last two games.

Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo described the win as a big relieve to the team, especially at this crucial moment.

He added that the team will still give it’s utmost best in the remaining two matches against both Lobi Stars in Lafia on Saturday, and the last match of the season against Heartland FC at home in Ilorin.
