Journalists were denied access to cover the live action of the Nigerian Professional Football League match day four encounter, where Kwara United locks on with Akwa United in Ilorin Township Stadium.
As part of the guidelines issued by the League Management Company to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, matches were supposed to be played in empty stadiums with journalists covering the event.
However, THE INFORMANT247 correspondent, Yusuf Mutiu Olaitan who was at the stadium for coverage was denied entrance alongside other journalists.
“The Football Association chairman of Kwara state was seen bringing unidentified people to the stadium. Meanwhile, he snubbed one of us who approached him to ask the reason for not allowing Journalist in. A member of Kwara FA categorically told us that our attention is not needed at the match venue, and also threatened to harass us with armed security personnel,” Mutiu reported.
Journalists barred from entering the stadium are from Nigeria Television Authority – NTA, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria – FRCN, Theinformant247, and Kwara Television among others.
