No curfew in Kwara yet, says govt
The Kwara State Government has dispelled rumours of imposing curfew across the state, as widely reported by some mainstream media.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye disclosed this rebuttal to THE INFORMANT247 in a telephone conversation on Wednesday morning.
Ajakaye said no curfew is imposed yet, adding that the govt had contacted The Nation newspaper – that earlier published the report – to make neccesary amendment.
For his part, the state police spokesperson, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, also debunked the report, saying “everyone can go about his or her normal businesses”.
Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Abia, Plateau, Osun, Imo imposes curfews
Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Abia, Plateau, Osun and Imo states have since Tuesday announced curfews while others set up probe panels as directed by the National Economic Council (NEC).
Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu imposed a 24-hour curfew, with effect from 4 pm. This was later adjusted to 9pm.
Protesters shot dead in Lagos
A number of people taking part in a protest against police brutality have reportedly been shot dead or injured in Lagos state.
The authorities have promised to launch an investigation into the shootings.
