No child left behind: AbdulRazaq approves free education for visually impaired girls in Kwara
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the immediate admission of visually impaired girls into Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin, with provisions for free education, feeding, and accommodation.
The initiative, announced by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, is aimed at strengthening inclusivity and tackling the out-of-school challenge in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the policy reflects the government’s commitment to reducing the number of out-of-school children while ensuring no child is left behind in the pursuit of education.
“This decision is a bold step to guarantee no child is left behind in Kwara. Every child, regardless of physical challenge, deserves quality education and opportunity,” the Governor was quoted as saying.
Olohungbebe explained that the programme aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Four (SDG 4), which seeks inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
He added that the policy would create learning opportunities for visually impaired girls, promote social equity, tackle exclusion, reduce inequality, and strengthen human capital development across Kwara State.
