NNPC spokesperson Soneye resigns
Femi Soneye has officially resigned from his role as the spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited after a tenure of 20 months.
In a statement released on Saturday, Soneye expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the media and the Nigerian public for their support and professionalism throughout his time in office.
“I have stepped aside from the role as chief corporate communications officer of NNPC to allow me to devote more time to my family and attend to personal responsibilities that now require my closer presence,” Soneye said.
He reflected on his experience, stating, “It has been a profound honour to serve both the Company and our country, and to contribute in my own way to the ongoing transformation of NNPC Ltd.”
Soneye conveyed his appreciation for the trust placed in him and acknowledged the incredible professionals he worked with during his tenure.
“I remain a steadfast supporter and ambassador of NNPC Ltd wherever I go,” he declared, encouraging his colleagues to continue engaging in balanced and constructive reporting in support of the Company’s mission and its strategic role in Nigeria’s energy future.
This transition comes just three months after President Bola Tinubu appointed Bayo Ojulari as the new group chief managing director (GCEO), with Ahmadu Musa Kida taking over as the non-executive chairman, succeeding Pius Akinyelure.
The president also appointed six non-executive directors from various geopolitical zones, alongside representatives from the ministries of finance and petroleum resources to join the newly formed board.
