NIPOST staff reject newly-appointed boss, shut down head office
The staff of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) on Monday shut down the head office of the service in Abuja to protest against the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as the new Chief Executive Officer/Post Master General.
The Informant247 reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through his spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, had last week announced some changes in the leadership of communication agencies, including NIPOST.
Meanwhile, some hours after the news of Odeyemi’s appointment broke, there were reports that Adeyemi Adepoju, the sacked Post Master-General, had been reinstated, whereby in a viral video, Adepoju was seen addressing some workers claiming to be reinstated by the president.
However, on Monday, the protesting workers denied entry to the newly appointed NIPOST CEO, saying her appointment was against their wish.
The workers, who said they preferred Adepoju, chanted solidarity songs and wielded placards.
