Nine die, 10 injure in Abuja road accident
No fewer than nine persons have been killed, 10 others sustained injuries in a road accident along Yangoji-Abaji route of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), confirmed the incident.
Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, in a statement, explained that the accident occurred at about 6:05am on Saturday.
According to him, the accident involved a Toyota Hiace Bus, with vehicle registration number KTG-450 KQ and Howo Sino truck along Yangoji-Abaji road.
He said that bus crashed into a stationary trailer while it was coming from Osun State, heading to Katsina State, adding that the two vehicles involved in the accident were commercial.
Kazeem said, “Twenty-two people were involved in the crash. They were all male. Ten were Injured and nine were killed. First aid was given to two. The FRSC recovered N3,170, six bags and 4 different mobile phones.”
He stated that the nine corpses were deposited at the mortuary in the General hospital, Kwali and that the Nigeria Police Force, Kwali division, has taken over the investigation.
He, however, advised vehicle owners to avoid road crashes, especially at night by ensuring that their vehicles were put in order before they put them on the road.
