Nigeria’s Edo Queens to earn $300,000 for reaching CAF Women’s Champions league semifinal

Nigeria’s representatives at this year’s CAF women’s champions league, Edo Queens has qualified for the semi-finals of the competition, the first by any Nigerian club.

The team, on Saturday came from behind to defeat defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in their last group stage game.

By reaching the semi-final, the team is now entitled to $300,000 equivalent to 522,549 NGN

They will now face DR Congo’s TP Mazembe on Tuesday afternoon and hope to scale thorough to the final in their maiden appearance.

In terms of reward, if Edo Queens win the semi final, their fee will increase to $400,000 and should they lose, they will have the opportunity to feature in the losers’ final match where they will have their purse increased to $350,000 should they win it.

Should they also ultimately win the trophy, Edo Queens will return to Nigeria with not just the trophy, but also the prize money ofUSD 600 000, the biggest earning by any Nigerian women’s football club.
