Nigerian troops raid Forest in Abia, neutralize 6 IPOB militants
Troops of Operation UDO KA conducted a successful raid in Igboro Forest, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Abia State, neutralizing six members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The operation aimed to apprehend those responsible for the recent attack on troops in Aba, which resulted in the deaths of three soldiers from the southeast region. The raid also targeted the recovery of arms and ammunition from the IPOB/ESN terrorist group.
During the intelligence-led mission, troops encountered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along their route. One soldier sustained minor injuries from the IED fragments, according to a statement posted on the X handle of the Nigerian Army.
Despite the militants’ resistance, troops subdued them with superior firepower, leading to the death of six militants. Others fled into the surrounding bushes, leaving bloodstains indicating various degrees of gunshot wounds.
Recovered items from the raid included three locally fabricated rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two locally fabricated artillery guns with tripods and bombs, dane guns, and Biafran flags.
The troops, according to the statement, also destroyed all camps with different inscriptions and burned Toyota Tundra and Hilux vehicles found at the site.
The Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA urged residents of Abia State to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information to eliminate criminal elements in the region. Information can be reported to Operation UDO KA by dialing *193 and selecting Option 2.
