Soyinka denies paying tribute to APC presidential flag-bearer, Tinubu

Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, on Friday dismissed claims that he paid tribute to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Soyinka disclosed this in a statement titled, ‘I did not pay tribute to Tinubu – Soyinka’, issued by his spokesman, Abiola Owoaje.

Reports had emerged entitled, ‘Prof Wole Soyinka’s tribute to Sen Asiwaju Tinubu’, supposedly written by Soyinka praising Tinubu on his political accomplishments, had gone viral on various WhatsApp platforms shortly after the former Lagos State governor emerged as APC’s presidential flag bearer on Wednesday.

2023: Gov. Dapo Abiodun visits Tinubu, pledges support

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Friday, visited the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, pledging to support the former Lagos State governor in winning the 2023 presidential election.

Abiodun who disclosed this on his Twitter page on Friday said his visit for the party’s presidential flagbearer was to congratulate him on his victory at the APC primary.

EFCC declares Christ Embassy Pastor Miebi Bribena, wife wanted for ‘N2bn fraud’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared a couple, Onyinmiebi (Miebi Baraza) and Beatrice Bribena, wanted over alleged fraud to the tune N2billion.

An alert by the anti-graft agency urged persons with information about them to contact any of its offices across Nigeria.

The Bribenas are the promoters of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited.

Court sentences killers of Fasoranti’s daughter to death by hanging

A High Court in Ondo State has sentenced three out of four suspected murderers of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, to death by hanging.

Mrs Funke Olakunrin was the 58-year-old daughter of the national leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political group, Pa Fasoranti.

In 2019, the attorney general of Ondo State arraigned Mohammed Usman, Osagie Lawal and Adamu Adamu for the murder of Olakunrin.

They have been charged with four counts which include murder, felony to wit murder, and kidnapping.

CAN rejects Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has told the leading political parties to discard Christian/Christian or Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket in 2023.

The National Secretary of the Christian body, Barrister Joseph Bade Daramola, on Friday in Abuja, revealed that such a decision would constitute a threat to the peace and unity of the country.

Rivers APC delegates die after presidential primary

Two Rivers State delegates who participated in the just concluded presidential primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have lost their lives shortly after the presidential primary election.

The two delegates identified as Onimiteim Vincent and Barrister Prince Loveday Motats lost their lives in an auto crash.

They lost their lives on their return to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Wednesday.

Angry mob burns 30 okadas, beats motorcyclist for killing pedestrian in Lagos

An angry mob were on Thursday, burnt over 30 motorcycles on Jakande Estate, Isheri Road, Lagos State after an okada rider crushed a man to death.

It was gathered that the yet-to-be-identified okada rider was plying one way when he rammed into the victim, who was standing by the roadside at First Junction Bus-Stop.

The victim was said to have died due to the impact of the collision.
