Nigerian court remands driver for ‘stealing’ his employer’s car
LAGOS, Nigeria (The Informant247) – Samuel Harrison, 46, was on Wednesday remanded in prison for ‘stealing’ his employer’s car and other valuables, valued at N8.1million.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. O Fajana of Ikeja Magistrates’ Court remanded him after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing and adjourned the case until Sept. 28 for sentencing.
The defendant, a driver who resides stays in Lagos is tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Funmilayo Akinleye told the court that the offences were committed on July 9 at Lekki, Lagos.
Akinleye told the court that the complainant, Mrs Janet Essien hired the service of the defendant as her driver on the said day and he stole the car and other valuables.
The Prosecutor said that the defendant took his boss to the salon on his first day at work and waited outside for her.
Akinleye said that when the complainant was through, she couldn’t find the driver or her car.
“Two iphones valued, N600,000 and one apple laptop valued, N550,000 were inside the car , total, N8.1million, ” she said.
The Prosecutor said that the car was tracked and the defendant was arrested at Isolo area of Lagos.
The offences according to the prosecutor contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
