Nigeria urges small, medium-scale businesses to sell products to foreign countries
YOLA, Nigeria (The Informant247) – The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) on Monday urged small and medium-scale businesses to export their made-in-Nigeria products to foreign countries, stressing that Nigeria now has trade houses in Asia, Europe and America.
“The Cairo, Lome and Nairobi trade houses were launched between March and August 2022 and have fully commenced operations while the others will be commissioned in not too long,” the council’s boss, Dr Ezra Yakusak told stakeholders in Northern Adamawa state, adding that the strategy was developed to remove trade barriers that saw Nigerian products being rejected overseas.
He explained that the trade houses set up in Canada, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Europe, Kenya and Lome among others, would help diversify the Nigerian economy away from over-dependence on oil.
The Council is the leading Nigerian Agency charged with the responsibility of promoting non-oil export in Nigeria to diversify away from oil and build a formidable economy.
