Nigeria to face Benin Republic, Rwanda,Libya in AFCON 2025 qualifiers
The race for AFCON 2025 in Morocco has now been set as qualifier draws for the African showpiece was conducted on Thursday.
The draw ceremony was conducted inside the SuperSport studio in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday afternoon.
Super Eagles are drawn in Group D alongside Benin Republic, Libya and Rwanda.
With the draw, Nigeria Super Eagles were presented with an earlier opportunity to avenge their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying defeat to the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in Abidjan last month, when race for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations that begins in two months’ time.
Being in the same group with the Amavubi of Rwanda will also have Eagles meeting another team in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group, which they next play in the series in March 2025 – as well as the Mediterranean Knights of Libya. All four teams are in Group D.
The six-match qualifying series has been spread over the FIFA windows in September, October and November, with two matches in each seven-day window.
