NDLEA sensitizes Kwara United players, officials on dangers of Drug Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kwara State has educated players and officials of Kwara United Football Club on the dangers of drug abuse, highlighting the risks such as infertility, cardiovascular diseases, and premature death.

Speaking during the event, Hajia Fatimoh Abiola Popoola, the State Commander of NDLEA, emphasized that drug experimentation often leads to abuse. She urged the players to avoid self-medication and consult the team doctor for any medical needs, stressing that discipline and diligence are key traits of responsible athletes.

Bashir Badawiy, the club’s General Manager, praised the unwavering support from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and commended the NDLEA for partnering with the club on this vital issue.

He noted that the seminar provided valuable insights into drug regulations.

Veteran broadcaster and Olympian Mallam Hammed Adio, in his goodwill message, advocated for a partnership between the Kwara Sports Commission and the NDLEA to raise awareness about drug abuse among athletes.

He encouraged Kwara United players to engage in extra training, drawing inspiration from sports legends Rashidi Yekini and Muda Lawal, as a way to stay focused and avoid social ills.

The event concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between Kwara United and the NDLEA, while NDLEA boss announced Bashir Badawiy as NDLEA ambassador and was decorated with the agency’s badge
