NDLEA seizes 179.102kgs illicit drugs in Ebonyi
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ebonyi State Command has said it has made a seizure of 179.102 kilograms of illicit drugs between January and September 2022 in the state.
Mr Iyke Uche, who’s the State Commander, made this revelation to newsmen in Abakaliki, the capital of the state, revealing that the drugs were seized in various locations, which included rural communities.
The state commander enumerated and revealed the drugs seized as tramadol, cannabis sativa, methamphetamine locally referred to as `Mkpurummiri’, flunitrazepam and other illicit drugs.
He further said that 27 persons were convicted within the reviewed period.
The state commander has lamented that the abuse of drug substances in the state, despite the harm they are capable of causing to the body system.
“We recorded tremendous successes from January to September; we have seized over 179.102 kilogrammes of different illicit drugs from dealers.
“In the period under review the agency seized 12.906 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, 0.023 Kg of designer drugs and 0.023 kg of Flunitrazepam amongst others,” he said.
The state commander further gave an assurance that the men of the agency in the state were ready to combat trafficking and drug abuse.
