National sports festival: Kwara govt tasks athletes on discipline
The Kwara State Government, on Thursday, urged athletes going to represent the State at the 20th National Sports Festival to be disciplined.
The fiesta will take place in Edo State between 2nd and 14th of April.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Barr. (Mrs.) Iyabo Funke Banire, disclosed that One Hundred and Fifty-Six athletes will represent the State at the festival, while31 Coaches, 12 Secretaries and 48 other delegates will also attend the festival from the State.
She noted that the State will feature in Twenty-Seven sports activities during the festival, adding that for the first time in the history of the State, Kwara will feature in Six-Team Sports.
Banire urged the athletes to be disciplined, see themselves as ambassadors of the State and ensure that they honorably win laurels for the State, stating that this will further place the State in a better position sports-wise.
The Permanent Secretary, who commended the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for sponsoring the athletes to the festival and for his huge investment in the sports to elevate the status of the State in the sports sector across the nation and the world over, explained that the efforts of the Governor will inspire the commitment of the athletes.
