NANS seeks scholarship for indigent students, raises alarm over dropout rate

Director of Action and Mobilization, Zone C National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Comrade Sa’ad Olatunji Baki, on Friday, called on Governments at all levels and various Non Profit Organisations to address the accelerating rate of students withdrawal from various higher institutions of learning across the country.

In a statement signed by his Director of media and publicity, Sanni Abdullahi, Baki noted that governments and NGOs can help forestall this unfortunate development by offering scholarship to students who are on the brink of dropping out of schools due to financial incapability.

He warned that the problem if not addressed on time would further aggravate the long lingering security challenges facing the nation, stating that an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

He appealed to philanthropists and corporate establishments to provide maximum support to the downtrodden students, adding that the current unfavorable national economic reality is taking its toll on the masses.

The Director, however, urged the students to be good ambassadors of their respective homes, wishing them a breakthrough in their varying endeavors.
