Naira Notes: Your loot are now useless, Kwankwaso tackles APC Govs for criticising Buhari
The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has reacted to the cashless policy, which has become the talk of the nation.
Kwankwaso condemned the actions of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as they stood against President Muhammadu Buhari over naira redesign policy.
The presidential candidate made this revelation at an event organised by the NNPP.
The Informant247 earlier reported that 10 states have dragged the President Muhammadu Buhari led government and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to Supreme Court over the redesigned currency policy.
The 10 states persuaded the apex court to declare the disobedience shown by the president to the order of the court as unconstitutional.
They revealed that the national broadcast made by the president directing the apex bank to consider only the old N200 notes as legal tender until April 10, 2023 as unconstitutional.
They identified that the position of the president was in contradiction to the ruling of the apex court of the country, which declared the old naira notes as legal tender, pending the determination of the law suit.
The fresh legal action taken by the states against the FG and the CBN were championed by the attorney generals of Kaduna, Kogi, Zamfara, Ondo, Ekiti, Katsina, Ogun, Cross River, Lagos, and Sokoto states.
While commenting on the lingering scarcity of new naira notes, Kwankwaso said the actions of the APC governors came to him as shock.
“In each state, you have branches of banks and in some states, you have even the national headquarters of those banks, on one hand we thought they (governors) would take all the billions from government houses and so on.
“But we realize these same governors were abusing their leaders, insulting them, I was shocked. I never thought some of them could abuse Buhari to that level.
“On one hand I was surprised that facts were coming out and we began to wonder what is wrong with them? Maybe EFCC was right that some governors are keeping billions of naira in their compounds across the country.
“Now the policy has made that looted money completely useless, I think that is why they are angry. So we are so happy with the Federal Government on that, the money they have collected is completely zero, it has expired.
“And I think all agencies should keep their eyes on that and I want to assure you that our party is going to assist the Federal Government, especially on election day, please tell all members of NNPP to join EFCC, to join the police and other security agencies that wherever they see try to buy votes, please stop them.”
