NAFDAC seizes N2bn illegal alcohol beverages in Lagos, warns public against unauthorised consumption
No fewer than 50,000 counterfeit branded labels and packaging materials for fake alcoholic beverages, valued at approximately ₦2 billion, were busted by the operatives of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
NAFDAC, via its official X handle, said the illegal alcohol packaging centre was located at Article Market in Abule-Osun, Lagos State, adding that these items were being used to produce unapproved and hazardous alcoholic products.
NAFDAC, however, warned the public about the severe health risks of counterfeit alcohol, including poisoning and organ damage, adding that alcoholic beverages should be purchased only from trusted vendors.
