My husband is not a magician: Remi Tinubu

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has said her husband, President Bola Tinubu, is working “brick-by-brick” to fix the country but not a magician.

She said this during an inter-denominational church service held to commemorate Independence Day in Abuja on Sunday.

Addressing the congregation, Mrs. Tinubu asserted that the Tinubu administration is focused on addressing the challenges the nation faces without casting blame on past administrations. She acknowledged the inherited issues were long-standing and required deliberate efforts to rectify.

“All we inherited are things that had happened many years ago; we are not here to put blame on any administration but to fix what has been damaged.”

Mrs. Tinubu also sought to dispel any expectations of instant transformation, stating, “My husband is not a magician; he is going to work, and I believe and hope that we will have peace in this country; the best is yet to come to us.”

She reiterated President Tinubu’s determination to restore the country by repairing the damage that has been done. She also highlighted the importance of good governance and urged Nigerians to emulate the example of Jesus Christ in their lives.

“A Nigeria of abundance has begun, and to be part of the greatness that God has started in the nation, Nigerians must look beyond their current realities and embrace hope anew,” she said.

Furthermore, Mrs. Tinubu encouraged unity in the diversity of Nigeria, emphasizing that no challenge is insurmountable with hope and faith. She assured Nigerians that her husband had conducted extensive consultations with the international community and investors to position the country for progress.

Earlier in the service, Israel Akanji, the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, offered words of encouragement and prayer, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s ability to overcome its challenges.

He also appealed to President Tinubu and other arms of government to fulfill their promises to the Nigerian people.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume echoed the call for patience, emphasizing that measures are being put in place to address the nation’s issues, even if they cannot be resolved urgently.
