Minimum wage: Organised labour threatens strike, gives May 31 ultimatum
Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have put on notice their civil society allies about a planned industrial action if the government fails to reverse the electricity tariff hike and conclude the new minimum wage negotiations by May 31.
In a joint communique issued today, the leaders of the two labour centres gave the federal government and the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) until the end of the month to reverse the tariff increase.
They also reiterated their May 31 ultimatum for the government to finalize the new minimum wage or face a nationwide strike.
