Minimum wage: After strike threat, Gov AbdulRazaq to meet labour leaders
The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will on Tuesday lead the government’s team to interface with the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress in the state to firm up discussions concerning the consequential adjustment component of the minimum wage.
“Pending issues concerning the minimum wage will again be looked into,” Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rafiu Ajakaye disclosed in a statement on Thursday evening.
It was earlier reported on Thursday that the workers’ union had concluded plan to join its national body to embark on industrial action over unpaid minimum wage and oil prices in the country.
The state government and labour unions had held several meetings in recent past on the issue of consequential arrangements for Local Government workers, which however ended in deadlock.
The labour union last year embarked on industrial action to press home their demands.
