Mikel Arteta gives update on Saka’s injury
Mikel Arteta hopes that the Bukayo Saka would be back on his feet as soon as possible after picking up an injury in Arsenal’s 5-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Saka had his action cut off in the 27th minutes when he got a knock and had to be substituted for Reiss Nelson who later bagged a brace in the game.
Saka, 21, has become a key figure in Arteta’s project on the heels of his work rate and impact on the team with five goals and five assists so far in all competitions in the current season.
“Hopefully not. It was a bad kick. Said Arteta when he was asked whether Saka would be a doubt for the World Cup.
“Right from the beginning he was limping, but I don’t see any further than that. Let’s see how he is in the next couple of days.”
As for where he was injured, Arteta added: “I think both [foot or ankle]. He got kicked a few times and he wasn’t comfortable”
Arsenal returns back to winning ways with the emphatic victory and reclaim the top spot with three points clear away from City.
Saka recorded his 20th assist in the Premier League after finding Gabriel Martinelli for the fifth-minute opener in the game.
Only Cesc Fabregas and Wayne Rooney had reached that mark at a younger age than him.
