Galadima Aminu has been appointed as the Acting Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a vital agency dedicated to advancing petroleum technology and human resources in Nigeria.

His appointment came from the office of President Bola Tinubu on October 17, 2023, and he will serve in an acting capacity for three months before embarking on a four-year term.

Aminu brings with him a wealth of knowledge in petroleum engineering and management. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and a Master of Science degree from Imperial College London.

His educational journey culminated in a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

His journey with PTDF began in 2010 when he joined as a Senior Technical Assistant. Aminu’s dedication and expertise have seen him rise through the organization’s ranks, culminating in his position as the General Manager of the Education and Training Department in 2020. During his tenure, Aminu has been actively involved in numerous critical PTDF projects and programs, including the Overseas Scholarship Scheme, Local Scholarship Scheme, Endowment Programme, Capacity Building Programme, and Research and Development Programme.

Not only has Aminu made an impact within PTDF, but he has also contributed to the broader Nigerian oil and gas industry through research, publications, and collaborations with local and international institutions. His work encompasses a range of topics, from reservoir simulation and enhanced oil recovery to unconventional hydrocarbon resources and carbon capture and storage.

Aminu succeeds Bello Aliyu Gusau, who retired after serving as the Executive Secretary and CEO of PTDF since 2017. Gusau officially requested retirement, commencing a 90-day pre-retirement leave starting September 26, 2023.

President Tinubu has expressed his faith in Aminu’s leadership capabilities and extended his best wishes for his tenure. Aminu has, in turn, expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity and is committed to working diligently to fulfill PTDF’s vision and mission.

Full responsibilities as the Executive Secretary and CEO of PTDF will be assumed by Aminu on December 26, 2023. His tenure will involve overseeing the implementation of PTDF’s strategic plan for 2023-2027, which prioritizes bolstering the capabilities of Nigerians in the oil and gas sector, promoting innovation and collaboration among stakeholders, and championing environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
