The governing council chairman, Kwara state college of Nursing, a medical Practitioner and humanitarian, Dr. Seyi Adigun has advocated for investment in entrepreneurship, describing it as the best way to render service and meet the needs of the society and individual without depending on the government.
Seyi, who delivered a speech on “Entrepreneurship and Science” at the 6th Annual science day of Ansarul-Islam Grammar school, Ijomu Oro stated that “society and economies are not built on science and technology alone, it is even more true that it is impossible to evolve a sustainable economy or achieve meaningful development or growth without optimised technological input and scientific skills-set.”
He further stated,” The challenge today is not only for the government but for all of us especially the students. We must embrace science and technology not just as subjects to be passed in examinations but as torch lights to help us navigate the darkened tunnels of leading our nation out to the wide pasture of greatness and prosperity. On this note, I commend the management of this school for placing the needed emphasis on the importance of the sciences and encouraging the students about the life-changing potentials, especially the entrepreneurial spirit that science and technological carries with it.”
Commenting on the establishment of Kwara State owned IVTEC, he said,”In this regard, we must commend the visionary leadership of the Kwara State Government for steadfastly laying the foundation for a technology-driven economic hub. The state-of-the-art International Vocational Training Centre (IVTEC) established by the Maigida administration in Ajasse-Ipo (about 5km from Ijomu-Oro) is a testament to this fact. The IVTEC is one of the signature achievements of the Governor Ahmed Abdulfatah’s administration and one of the legacies that define the visionary, holistic and pragmatic nature of governance in Kwara State over the past 16 years.”
