May Day: Fubara commends Tinubu’s commitment to labour reforms

Suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed his appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vigorous efforts to promote labour reforms and create a safer working environment for all workers.

In a statement issued on Workers’ Day through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara lauded the resilience and professionalism of the Rivers workforce, particularly amidst the challenges facing democratic governance in the state.

He stated, “This year’s Workers’ Day theme, ‘Ensuring safety and health at work in changing climate,’ underscores the urgent need to protect our workers from escalating environmental threats and socio-political uncertainties.”

Fubara emphasized the significance of prioritizing occupational safety and the well-being of workers as crucial elements for sustainable growth. “The commitment of our workforce is the backbone of the state’s development and serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter future,” he remarked in his message of solidarity.

He acknowledged the Federal Government’s efforts under President Tinubu’s administration in advancing labour reforms and implementing climate-conscious policies that foster a safer working environment nationally.

“Despite the political turbulence and governance disruptions we face, the dedication of Rivers workers to their duties reflects their patriotism and integrity, laying the foundation for our state’s stability and advancement,” Fubara added.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and urged all employers, both public and private, to respect labour laws and uphold the rights and dignity of every worker.

He advocated for continuous improvements in working conditions to meet legal standards and moral responsibilities. “We are dedicated to creating a work environment that fosters dignity, opportunity, and prosperity for all,” Fubara promised.

In closing, he encouraged the people of Rivers State to maintain hope and unity, assuring them that, in the end, the forces of justice, peace, and progress will prevail.
