One Uchenna Izuka was on Tuesday, sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
He was jailed by an Ikeja Special Offences Court over the defilement of a 12-year-old girl.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo passed the judgment that the prosecution has succeeded in proving the case against the suspect.
According to the judge, the survivor has made a testimony of how the suspect defiled her sometime in 2018 and 2019.
The court was told that the suspect dragged the small girl into his room and had a carnal knowledge of her.
She was, on another occasion, bleeding but the suspected rapist used tissue paper to cleanse her up.
“She said she was a virgin before and that her father took her to the hospital for a check up when he saw her walking with difficulty.
“Medical examination also showed absence of the hymen”, NAN quoted Taiwo saying.
The judge revealed that though the suspect denied committing the crime, he later confessed to have taken the survivor into his room and dashed her money.
Justice Taiwo, using the evidence available before the court, declared the suspect guilty of the charge.
“The defendant is hereby sentenced to 15 years imprisonment without an option of fine”, he declared.
Olakunle Ligali and Omowumi Bajulaye-Bishi, who were the prosecutors, revealed that the defendant committed the crime in January 2019 in Ajegunle.
