Man in court over alleged possession of fabricated firearm in Abuja

A man, Shagari Ibrahim, on Wednesday appeared in court over alleged possession of fabricated firearm.

The man, suspected to be unemployed was arraigned before an Upper Area Court, in Karu, Abuja over alleged possession of fabricated firearm.

Ibrahim was charged by the police with non legal possession of locally manufactured firearm.

Mr O.O Olayemi, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the defendant was apprehended by the intelligence reaction team of the police.

When the matter was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the offence.

He said that the offence, was in contravention of the provisions of Section 319A of the Penal Code.

Malam Hassan Mohammed, who presided over the matter, granted the defendant the sum of N200, 000 bail plus one surety in like sum.

Mohammed directed that the surety must be living within the court’s jurisdiction and address must be subjected to the verification of a court officer.

He has adjourned the matter until December 12 for further hearing.
