Man arrested for withdrawing N40m out of N105m mistakenly sent into his account

The Police Command in Osun State has confirmed the arrest of a man, Adekunle Orisunmibola, over alleged withdrawal of N40 million from N105 million which was mistakenly sent into his bank account.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Yemisi Opalola, made this revelation while parading the suspect.

While parading the suspect, a senior police officer said the suspect was apprehended at Badagry Border in Lagos State while trying to run away from Nigeria.

Orisunmibola said: “On Tuesday, November 22, a man reported that he mistakenly transferred the total sum of One Hundred and Five Million, Four Hundred and Seventy-Two Thousand Naira (NI05,472,000:00k) to the account of the suspect.

“The complainant contacted the Bank, got the suspect’s phone number and a call was put across to suspect, but not reachable, having transferred a sum of Forty Million Naira (N40,000,000:00k) out of the money and ran to an unknown destination.”

The image maker of the police command said the arrest of the suspect was facilitated by investigations carried out by the State Command Anti-Vice Unit.

She added that the suspect will be dragged to court after the conclusion of police investigation.

While addressing newsmen, the suspect admitted to withdrawing the money.
