Man, 34, appears in court over alleged N210, 000 fraud in Ogun
A man, Moses Momah, was on Tuesday arraigned before the court over alleged fraud of N210,000.
The 34-year-old man appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly defrauding a man of N210,000.
Momah whose address of residence was not disclosed was charged by the Police with obtaining money under false pretence, fraud, and stealing.
Insp E. O. Adaraloye, who’s the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant carried out the offences on September 14, around 9.30 a.m. at No. 1, Oladimeji St.,Transformer Bus-Stop, Olosun, Itele area, Ota.
Adaraloye made allegation that the defendant received N210,000 from the complainant, Adewale Adigun, with the excuse that he would assist to dig a borehole for him but refused to do so.
“The defendant converted the money to personal use instead of fulfilling the agreement between them,” he said.
The prosecutor also revealed that the offences were in contravention of Sections 383, 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
When the matter was read to the defendant, he however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, the Magistrate, granted the defendant the sum of N200,000 bail plus one surety in like sum.
Adeyemi directed that the surety must live within the jurisdiction of the court and have reliable source of income with evidence of tax payment to the state government.
She has adjourned the matter until December 15 for further hearing.
