Man, 28, arrested for kidnapping, raping a minor in Kwara – NSCDC

A 28-year-old man, Bello Muhammed has been arrested by the Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for alleged kidnap and sexual assault of a 15 years old girl, Hajarat Ibraheem while in captivity.

Muhammed conspired with two other suspects who are still at large, to kidnap the girl at llale village, Oke Ero in Irepodun Local Government Area of the State.

The Kwara NSCDC spokesman, Babawale Afolabi revealed that the victim was kidnapped and dragged to the bush, tied her hand, and raped her severally.

Afolabi said: “On Thursday, August 5th, 2021, one Yakubu Kelani, 50, came to the NSCDC office in Omu Aran to report that his 15 years old daughter was kidnapped on her way to fetch water on the 29th July 2021.

“The victim was taken into the bush where he was reportedly raped severally by her abductors who later got in touch with the family of the girl demanding for N15 million as ransom.”

He said that the victim’s family paid some amount of money to the alleged kidnappers to secure the released of the victim.

He added that Muhammed was unlucky as he was picked up by a local vigilante group at Kara market, Ajase lpo, Irepodun local government area of the state.

The vigilance group subsequently handed him over to the operatives of the NSCDC, he said.

He said “during the interrogation, Muhammed confessed to having committed the crime with his two accomplices who are still at large.

The two other suspects are Umar Abubakar from Ajase lpo and one Babuga.

He said that operatives of the NSCDC are on the trail of the two other suspects.

“The commandant NSCDC Kwara state command Iskilu Ayinla Makinde has been briefed of the incident and has ordered for an immediate manhunt for the other two suspects while the suspects will be charged to court at the completion of the investigation,” Afolabi said.
