LGs are in charge of their affairs in Kwara: Commissioner
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Architect Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen says all the Council Areas in Kwara State are in charge of their affairs including finances and choices of projects to be executed based on the request of their people.
He stated that his Ministry only performs oversight function of monitoring and giving advice where necessary.
The commissioner disclosed this during an interactive meeting with all the Council Chairmen in the state.
He added that the state will henceforth unveil the best performing Local Government Council in the State after evaluating impacts of their projects in their Council Areas.
He disclosed that the move to award the best performing Local Government became imperative to encourage them to deliver more the dividends of democracy to their people.
He hinted that the Ministry will visit all the Council Areas to conduct on-the-spot assessment of the projects done and most especially the impacts will have on the benefiting Communities.
