LG polls: Kwara APC denies inviting candidates for screening
The Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied a media report that the party, under the leadership of the acting chairman, Alh. Abdullahi Samari Abubakar has directed its candidates to appear today, 15th of July, 2024, at the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) for screening in the build-up of the September 21 local government elections in the state.
According to a statement issued by the acting chairman, Alh. Abdullahi Samari Abubakar, the party, disclosed that since the resignation of its Publicity Secretary, only the acting chairman authorises and signs official statements regarding communication with its candidates and KWASIEC, adding that the public should regard the report as untrue.
The statement reads, “The attention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kwara State Chapter, has been drawn to the false information circulating that the party has directed its candidates to appear for screening today at the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC).
“The party has not made any such announcements. It is fake news, which should be ignored.
“The party wishes to state that the party’s State PRO resigned recently, and the party has not filled the vacancy.
“Only the acting chairman, Alh. Abdullahi Samari Abubakar authorises and signs official statements regarding communication with our candidates and KWASIEC.
