Lagos teacher defiles 8-year-old pupil inside classroom
A teacher at a private primary school in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, Ibikunle Francis has been apprehended for an alleged defilement of an eight year old primary four girl of the school.
It was gathered that Mr. Francis was the girl’s class teacher during first term of this academic session before he was moved to another class.
The victim reportedly fell sick and got hospitalized. The girl was later diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. She eventually revealed to her mother, after being thoroughly questioned by her mother, that Mr. Francis had sexually harassed her twice.
Mr Ebenezer Omijalile, the Coordinator of Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), informed newsmen that the matter was taken to the Akodo Police Station on Thursday.
The coordinator of the human rights group said, “We are following up a case involving an eight-year-old girl who was defiled by her teacher, Mr Francis, on two different occasions. The perpetrator is in detention at the Akodo Police Station.”
He affirmed that the matter would be the second to be reported at the police station by the group last week.
He noted, “We also got a report of a five-year-old residing at Oshoroko area who was sexually abused by her neighbour, a 49-year-old man identified as Baba Favour. The case was reported at the Akodo Police Station on Thursday and the suspect is currently in police custody.”
The victim’s father, Mr Leo, narrated that; “She told us that the teacher touched her private parts and had sex with her in the classroom during closing time. She said she wanted to go and call her sister who is in a kindergarten class when the teacher called her into a classroom and took her to the back of the door.”
The spokesperson of the police in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, saying that the matter had been directed to the gender unit at the police headquarters in Ikeja.
