Lagos LG election peaceful, orderly – EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has labeled Saturday’s local government election in Lagos State as peaceful and orderly.
During a monitoring exercise across several polling units, ACE I Ahmed Ghali, the Acting Zonal Director of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the EFCC, provided this encouraging assessment.
He remarked, “From the report and information we have gathered; because our people are everywhere monitoring the situation; everything is going peacefully, and you can see the area is so calm.”
Ghali highlighted the absence of any incident reports, expressing satisfaction with the overall conduct of the election: “There is no incident report yet, and we are happy with that development.”
He noted that while there were minor delays in some areas due to the transport of election materials, these were understandable under the circumstances.
Ghali commended the behavior of voters, electoral officials, and security personnel, stating, “Everyone is conducting very well.
People are coming and going. I have not seen any sign of malpractice and you can see the conduct of the officials is also professional. The security men are alert and doing their job.”
The EFCC affirmed its commitment to continuously observe the election process until the conclusion of voting.
