…as diaspora pensioners now eligible to register online
In a significant move towards enhancing the safety and economic development of residents, the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA) has successfully registered over 350,000 individuals.
This was announced by the Acting General Manager of KWASRRA, Mr. Tajudeen Jimoh, during an inter-ministerial press briefing for the first quarter of 2025.
Mr. Jimoh emphasized the importance of creating a credible database, stating, “As part of the mandates of the Agency, it has to ensure a credible and reliable database of all categories of Kwara State residents for adequate planning, economic development, and social inclusion.”
The initiative, directed by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, aims to assign unique State Security Identification (SSID) numbers/cards to every resident.
Mr. Jimoh added, “Parents, guardians, and students will be required to provide their unique SSID numbers in the process of registering for any exams.”
Key achievements highlighted by Mr. Jimoh include an increase in registration centers from 96 to 113 across the state, the recruitment of an additional 200 adhoc staff, and ongoing distribution of SSID cards to residents.
He also mentioned that plans are underway to enhance online registration for pensioners, stating, “We are ensuring that those who are out of the country, or the State, especially pensioners are able to register and get the SSID numbers without having to travel down.”
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to building a reliable and comprehensive database for security and economic planning, encouraging residents to fully participate in the registration exercise.
