KWASAA warns against illegal poster pasting, defacement of Infrastructure
The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has cautioned individuals, groups, and organizations against the indiscriminate pasting of posters on public infrastructure, describing the act as a criminal offence and a threat to the state’s beautification efforts.
The agency’s Acting General Manager, Toba Adeyeye, gave the warning on Saturday in Ilorin during a cleanup exercise aimed at removing illegally pasted posters across the metropolis.
Mr. Adeyeye noted that Kwara State has been repositioned as a leading destination for investment and tourism through ongoing urban renewal projects.
He, however, expressed concern that some residents were undermining government efforts by defacing public infrastructure.
Particular concern, he said, was the defacement of the newly constructed Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Flyover at Unity area and the recently installed solar-powered streetlights.
“The government has provided several legal avenues for publicity. It is sad to see people resort to pasting posters illegally on public infrastructure. Such practices will not be tolerated henceforth,” Adeyeye warned.
He stressed that no political party, religious body, or individual is allowed to paste posters without due approval from KWASAA, adding that it is strictly prohibited to deface newly completed government projects such as fences and flyovers.
The KWASAA boss advised residents to comply with the policy and warned that defaulters would henceforth face prosecution.
