Kwara United targets Valuejet preseason trophy

Kwara United Football Club have expressed their resolve to win the Valuejet preseason tournament in Ikenne.

The team departed for the ancient town of Ikenne on Monday to participate in the third edition of the tournament which will be held at the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne,Ogun State.

The team had their first training session earlier on Tuesday ahead of the Wednesday kick off.

Speaking on Tuesday Coach Kabir Dogo, the technical advisor of Kwara United, in a statement from the club’s media officer, Ayodeji Ismail expressed the team’s determination to exceed their previous performances in the competition.

Kwara United was placed in a group with Remo Stars, Rivers United, and Ijebu United during the draws in Ikenne.

Coach Dogo highlighted that the tournament serves as a valuable opportunity to gear up for the upcoming season, evaluate their level of readiness, and identify areas for enhancement.

“Our participation in the Valuejet Cup is geared towards fortifying our squad and solidifying our preparations for the 2024/25 NPFL season while aiming to compete fiercely,”he stated.

Emphasizing the team’s unwavering commitment to clinching victory for the state, Coach Dogo stressed the meticulous approach being taken in their preparations.

In a warm welcome to Kwara United in Ikenne, Hon Kunle Soname, the founder of Remo Stars, encouraged the players to establish a reputation for themselves, acknowledging the exceptional platform provided by the club’s management.

“Seize this opportunity to shine, Kwara United has presented you with a platform for excellence, make the most of it,”he urged.

Hon Soname also commended the club for the choice of young players in the team in Ikenne.

Additionally, he announced a generous donation of one million naira to the players in the event of a tournament triumph, in addition to the five million naira prize money for the victorious team.

Kwara United reached the semi final of the last edition of the tournament where they lost to Beyond Limits FA on penalties.

Group A of the tournament includes Al Merikkh SC of Sudan, defending champions Shooting Stars, Ikorodu City and Beyond Limits FA.
