Kwara United held hostage in Aba over 3million naira debt to former player
Both Players and officials of Kwara United FC of Ilorin were on Friday held hostage at Aba by a former Player of the club Francis Onyegbulam.
Francis, according to reports prevented the team from moving out of their hotel for a training session ahead of their Saturday’s clash against Enyimba FC.
The said player, who claimed he is being owed 3 million naira had once attacked the team before in their match against Akwa United in Uyo.
On the heels of the debacle, the NPFL matchday 33 against Enyimba earlier billed for 4pm on Saturday has now been postponed to 8am on Sunday.
“Francis was one of the players brought to Kwara United by Coach John Obuh and the 3 million naira he was asking for was his sign on fees which the club owed him” a source who claimed he is also being owed by the team told the informant247.
Kwara United currently occupies fifth position on the league table with 49 points as they continue their push to secure a continental ticket.
Recall that the informant247 reported how the Technical Adviser of the team, Abdullahi Biffo was granted an approval by the Club’s management to travel to America for medical purposes.
It has also been reported that Coach Abdullahi Biffo will not make a return back to the team even after returning from his medical trip to America.
Kwara United is currently being tinkered by the recently elevated Chief Coach of the Club, Lukman Ijaiya.
