Kwara United beat CAF Confederation Cup Champions in Lagos.

Kwara United on Sunday recorded a massive 3-1 win over the CAF Confederation Cup defending Champions, RS Berkane of Morroco in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the competition played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

The Harmony boys, who had to endure a round of poor finishing in the cutting edge throughout the first half went in to the break with a goal down after succumbing to Cheick Ouattara’s header in the 8th minutes.

It was Coach Azeez Mohammed’s tactical switch that would eventually turned things around for the Kwara State owned team when their dominance in the second half kicked off a string of comeback to the delight of fans and supporters alike.

Taofeeq Jimoh was one of the super substitutes who got things started when he finished off a good build of play to level things up in the 74th minutes.

The team won’t stop amazing their fans as Wasiu Jimoh, who had scored twice in the first leg of their first preliminary round at the same venue curled in a perfect shot in the 81st minutes to push his side in to the lead.

Barnabas Daniel would in the stroke of the final minutes found the back of the net to send Kwara United in to a safer side of the game against the visitors who had been so disorganized in the second half.

The victory leaves Kwara United with an advantage going into the second leg of the game billed for Berkane in Morroco next weekend.
