Kwara United back to Ilorin, begins final phase of training for new NPFL season
Following an extensive training tour that encompassed participation in the Valuejet and Douye Diri Pre-Season tournaments in Ikenne, Ogun State and Yenegoa, Bayelsa state respectively, Kwara United Football Club has returned to Ilorin to continue its preparations for the upcoming NPFL season.
The team arrived the state capital on Monday night after participating in the Duoye Diri preseason tournament where they lost the third place final to Akwa United 4-2 after a goalless draw in the regulation time.
In a statement released by the club’s media officer, Ayodeji Ismail, the coaching staff is of the opinion that the tours have significantly contributed to shaping the team for the challenges ahead.
The matches played provided an opportunity for new players to exhibit their potential and skills, as acknowledged by the club management
Addressing this, the club’s General Manager, Bashir Badawiy, mentioned that the management has duly noted the feedback and recommendations from the fans, emphasizing that the two Preseason tournaments have been instrumental in identifying areas for strength and improvement.
“Over the past month, we have engaged in a thorough assessment of our team, and there have been positive developments in the recent test matches,”he elaborated.
While appreciating Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara sports commission, teeming fans and critical stakeholders for their unwavering support, he acknowledged that the management believe in the ability of the club’s technical crew to deliver on the mandate given to them.

Kwara United are expected to welcome Niger Tornadoes in their opening fixtures of the upcoming NPFL season. Meanwhile, the team will hold a training session at its pitch at 4pm today.
