Kwara TOAN demonstrates commitment to safety with new colour codes in transportation

In a proactive response to the Kwara State government’s new colour codes for its transportation sector, designed to enhance citizen safety, the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) has unveiled tricycles sporting the new colors. This initiative was formally presented to the Ministry, highlighting TOAN’s commitment to supporting vital reforms in transportation.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, received the presentation with enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted about this swift step taken by the TOAN leadership. We urge others to comply with the ‘white and green’ colour codes accordingly.” He praised TOAN’s immediate compliance as a noteworthy example for other transport bodies in the state.

Hon. Korasabi further stressed the importance of adherence from other transport organizations, such as the Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), in painting their vehicles according to the state’s directive within the necessary timeframe.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alh. Salau Kabir Abdullahi, commended TOAN for their rapid action, acknowledging their reliability and effectiveness in the sector. He assured TOAN of the government’s continuous support in addressing operational issues to ensure smooth transportation services in Kwara State.

Chairman of TOAN, Alh. Saliu Gidado, expressed that the presentation of the newly painted tricycles represents their unwavering support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration. “This initiative underscores our commitment to the safety of residents and the successful realization of transportation reforms,” Gidado remarked.

He also recognized the positive impact of the government’s urban development projects, stating that the reconstruction of roads has significantly reduced maintenance costs and travel times for both transporters and commuters in Kwara State.
