Kwara TESCOM announces makeup interview for 180 applicants

The Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has called upon 180 additional candidates who participated in its recent computer-based test (CBT) to attend a makeup interview aimed at filling critical subject vacancies across 15 local government areas.

The interview is set to take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at the commission’s headquarters in Ilorin. Notably, this session does not include candidates from the Ilorin West Local Government Area.

TESCOM’s Chairman emphasized that this exercise addresses shortfalls in important subjects, including Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, Islamic Studies, Christian Studies, History, Physics, Geography, French, Yoruba, and Commerce. “Our analysis has revealed that specific local governments are lacking in these subject areas, and we need to assess applicants who meet the basic requirements from the CBT to occupy these roles. This initiative aims to balance merit, equity, and the current educational needs of the state,” he stated.

The makeup interview will consider applicants under special circumstances to fill vacancies without compromising the integrity of the screening process. Some of those invited scored between 45 and 59 on the CBT—below the 60-point cutoff for initial interviews—while others scored 60 and above but hold third class degrees or are over the age of 35. Initially, the requirement was to have first or second class honors in relevant degrees.

For detailed transparency, the distribution of the 180 invitees by local government area is as follows: Asa (4), Baruten (20), Edu (11), Ekiti (22), Ifelodun (3), Ilorin East (2), Ilorin South (16), Ilorin West (0), Irepodun (7), Isin (6), Kaiama (30), Moro (9), Offa (13), Oke Ero (20), Oyun (7), and Patigi (10).

This move reflects TESCOM’s commitment to addressing educational staffing needs effectively while ensuring adherence to established recruitment standards.
