Kwara South constituents threaten to recall Lola Ashiru
Constituents of Kwara South Senatorial District have threatened to begin a process of recalling Senator Lola Ashiru, representing the constituency in the Senate.
The angry constituents, comprising mainly youth, accused the Senator of neglecting them as well as having no plans for his constituency.
The youth under the aegis, Kwara South Youth Assembly, issued the recall threat in a statement on Tuesday.
In the statement signed by its secretary, Amb. Yusuf Abdulwasiu Saddam, they lamented that the Senator has not establish a good relationship with his people and had allegedly continued to shy away from his constitutional responsibilities.
Listing their demands, the Assembly asked that “his constituency office should be reopened to ensure accessibility”.
They said, “That Kwara South people have qualified hands, hence he should replace all non-Kwaran aides with indegenous ones.
“That the senator should give proper Account of the constituency allowances since he his a Public Officer.”
They vowed to pass a vote of no confidence on the Senator should he fail to meet the demands within two weeks.
They however commended the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on his efforts towards the development of the State and urged the Governor to direct more Infrastructures development to the senatorial district and focus more youth empowerment.
