Kwara screens nearly 100,000 in project 10 million, commends public cooperation
The Kwara State Government has praised residents for their strong support in the recently completed Project 10 Million health screening exercise, which took place across the state’s 16 Local Government Areas.
According to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, 97,854 people in Kwara participated in the project, which aimed to screen 10 million Nigerians for hypertension and blood sugar levels.
The screening campaign ran from October 28 to November 4, 2024, with a target of reaching 196,913 Kwarans.
Dr. El-Imam attributed the project’s success to the cooperation of health workers, community leaders, religious groups, and organisations, including the Chief Imam of Ilorin, the Christian Association of Nigeria, the Muslim Society, market leaders, and various unions.
She noted that Kwara emerged as one of the leading states in achieving its screening goals, a result she called a “major achievement” for the state.
Dr. El-Imam expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support, which she said was essential in making Kwara a top-performing state in the Project 10 Million initiative.
