Kwara reverts sanitation exercise to 3 hours to improve healthier environment
The Kwara State Government has reverted to the normal 3 hours of the monthly sanitation exercise, with immediate effect in its efforts to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.
According to a statement by Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, the State Commissioner for Environment, while stating on Tuesday in Ilorin, the state capital, the decision was in line with the state Environmental Sanitation law of Section 29 (2) CAP E4 of 2006, which stipulates that the hours of Sanitation is from seven o’clock to ten o’clock (7: 00 am – 10 am) in the morning.
The Commissioner, while emphasising that the move is necessary to eradicate indiscriminate dumping of refuse and forestall the outbreak of diseases, added that the sanitation exercise has to be taken seriously and in accordance with the laws governing our state.
“Therefore, we need to invest more time in cleaning our surroundings, clearing our drainages and cutting the bushes around our residents.”
The Commissioner, however, appealed to the public: “continue to cooperate with Government and its agencies, in its efforts at ensuring a clean, safe and healthier Kwara, for residents and be more attractive to would-be investors.
