Kwara police vows to deal with vandals destroying public properties

…as cops recover, handover vandalised transformer

The Police in Kwara State has warned ‘criminals’ destroying and looting public properties within Ilorin metropolis, vowing that “anybody arrested will be severely dealt with in accordance with the law”.

The release was coming after a gang of electric cable vandals on Wednesday attempted to steal a transformer in Ilorin.

The vandals, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi, were operating on an IBEDC transformer close to late Justice Mustapha Akanbi’s library at about 03:00 am, fled sighting police and abandoned the transformer.

He added that the items were recovered and subsequently handed over to the business manager, IBEDC, Challenge area, Ilorin, Mr. Olumide on behalf of the company.

Effort is ongoing to arrest the vandals, the police spokesperson said.

He quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Bagega advising members of the public to be conscious of their environment at all times and likewise report strange movements/ actions to the police.
