Kwara Police begin full enforcement of vehicle tinted glass permit
The Kwara State Police Command has commenced full enforcement of Vehicle Tinted Glass Permit regulations across the 16 local government areas beginning from today, Thursday, October 2, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the state Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Command promise to be carry out the exercise professionally, aligning with existing laws and directives.
The statement, while stating that the enforcement applies to all vehicles with tinted glasses, whether factory-fitted or otherwise, adding that motorists without the required permit were advised to begin the registration process at www.possap.gov.ng and proceed to the State Intelligence Department (SID) at Police Headquarters, Ilorin, for physical verification.
“Those unwilling to obtain the permit were urged to remove tinted films or replace factory-fitted tinted glasses with transparent ones,” the statement added.
The Command also reiterated the ban on unauthorized use of sirens, revolving lights, covering or obstruction of number plates, and the operation of unregistered vehicles within the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to supervise the enforcement, stressing that officers must avoid harassment or extortion of motorists. He warned that erring operatives and their supervisors would be sanctioned.
“The Command therefore calls on motorists and residents to cooperate fully with police operatives during this exercise,” the statement read, urging the public to report cases of misconduct via the Complaints Response Unit hotlines: 08078255661, 07065774464, or in emergencies, 08125275046, 07032069501.
